It is one of very few major publications in the world not owned by a corporation or major public institution. The vast majority of its contributors are practising academics who teach the subjects they write about in universities across the world. Contributors are invited to contribute by the encyclopedia's editors, and when each entry is written it is reviewed by the relevant members of its editorial board before being published. The Literary Encyclopedia is emphatically not an amateur resource and it does not publish work by unqualified writers. |
